Smart COD & risk rules

Smart COD scores every Cash-on-Delivery order before it ships and applies your rules by risk band. This is how you cut returns without cutting COD.

Smart COD (dashboard → RTO Suite → Risk rules) scores every COD attempt from 0–100 and applies the action you chose for that risk band. It runs at checkout, before the order exists, so a risky order is caught before dispatch.

How an order is scored

The score combines signals IndiSell already has:

 • Phone history across the IndiSell network — past RTOs, delivered and paid orders.
 • Address quality — structured, complete, and plausible for the pincode.
 • Order velocity — repeat same-day COD from the same phone.
 • Location — the checkout IP and its distance from the delivery pincode.
COD attempt at checkout Score 0–100 risk engine Low (0–35) Always allow COD Medium (35–60) Your rule — allow, or partial High (60–100) Your rule — partial, or block
The score lands in a band; the band's action is yours to choose.

Each band's action is a dropdown — Allow, Partial, or Block — and the thresholds are yours to move.

Set your bands

On the Risk rules page you set:

 • Where each band starts — the medium and high thresholds (defaults 35 and 60).
 • The action per band — Allow, Partial, or Block COD.
 • Network scoring on or off — score against the whole IndiSell phone graph, or only your own store's history.

Extra levers

Beyond the score bands, Smart COD adds score-independent rules — see Pincode rules, caps & auto-block:

 • Pincode rules — block or prepaid-gate specific postal codes.
 • Same-day COD cap — a repeat same-day COD is the strongest RTO signal; cap how many one phone can place per day.
 • Order-value caps — withdraw plain COD above or below set amounts.
 • Outside-India COD — apply partial/block when the checkout IP geolocates abroad.
 • Auto-block serial returners — courier-confirmed RTOs create a block rule automatically.
ℹ️
The Fraud analysis panel on an order page is a heads-up read of the signals. The COD allow/block decision is this risk score against your bands — the two use different thresholds, so a "High risk" flag doesn't always mean COD was blocked. Tune your bands (and the levers above) to close that gap.
