Connect your Shopify store

Link IndiSell to your Shopify store so it can read your catalogue, prices and orders — a one-time setup that takes a few minutes.

IndiSell needs a secure connection to your Shopify store to read products and prices, create orders, and keep your cart in sync. This is a one-time setup and uses Shopify's own permission screen — you never share your Shopify password with us.

Before you start

You need admin access to the Shopify store (or the Apps and channels permission).
Keep your store URL handy — it looks like your-store.myshopify.com.

Steps

Open Settings → Store details

In the IndiSell dashboard, go to Settings → Store details and click Connect store.

Approve on Shopify

You'll land on Shopify's permission screen. Review the access IndiSell requests and click Install. Shopify sends you straight back.

Add the Storefront token

If prompted, paste your public Storefront API access token — a 32-character value (Shopify → Settings → Apps → Develop apps → API credentials → Storefront API access token). This lets the checkout read the live cart and price coupons exactly.

Confirm it's connected

Back in Store details you'll see Connected next to your domain, with the Admin and Storefront tokens saved.

What each token is for

⚠️

Use the public Storefront API access token — a 32-character value. In a custom app it's under API credentials → Storefront API access token; on the Headless (Hydrogen) sales channel it's the Public access token. Do not paste the Admin API access token (it starts with shpat_) or a Headless private token — Shopify rejects those for storefront reads, and IndiSell shows the token as "rejected by Shopify." This is the single most common setup mistake; if coupons ever validate in "basic mode," a wrong-type token here is why.

ℹ️

IndiSell requests only the permissions it needs — products, orders, and script tags. It never has access to your Shopify admin password, staff accounts, or payouts.

The checkout script

Once connected, IndiSell installs a single script on your storefront (a Shopify ScriptTag). That script is what opens the IndiSell checkout when a shopper taps Buy now or Checkout. You don't edit any theme files.

⚠️

Shopify is retiring ScriptTags on some plans. If your store uses the theme app embed instead, enable IndiSell Checkout under Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds. Either way, the setup is a toggle — no code.

Reconnecting

If you rotate tokens or reinstall, use Reconnect on the Store details page. Your settings are preserved — only the connection is refreshed.
